Over the past 12 years, Atlantec has provided design services for more than 100 projects in the City of Raleigh. This ongoing client relationship is a result of our adherence to design schedules, our keeping of the design scope within the project budget, and our low incidence of design related change orders.
Pullen Park Recreational Facility, Boiler Replacement and HVAC Upgrades Atlantec provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services for the replacement of the boiler and the design of a new air conditioning system. Mechanical design included a new 652 mbh input copper tube boiler and new plumbing and piping was designed to distribute hot water to the air handling units. Three pairs of DX units were twinned to operate with three air handling units. This was accomplished via our specification of dual circuitry for these DX coils. Design also included a web based DDC energy management system. Electrical design included evaluating the existing service, designing a new feeder and panel board to provide power for the new mechanical units. Our electrical services also included upgrades to the existing lighting in the facility so that it would be in compliance with federal and state energy usage requirements. Fire Alarm updated grades were also engineered. This included bringing the notification appliances into compliance with NC fire code and NFPA 72.

One Exchange Plaza Chiller Replacement Atlantec provided the mechanical and electrical engineering design services for the replacement of the chiller that serves the eleven story city owned building. Replacement of the chiller required coordination with the structural engineer to ensure that the new larger unit would not adversely affect the existing building structure. Removal of the existing chiller and the installation of the new chiller on top of the building required a very large crane. Because of the buildings location in downtown Raleigh, a main city street will be closed during the replacement process. Electrical services included evaluating the existing electrical service to power the new chiller. While the new chiller was larger in cooling capacity, the power o run the unit will be less increasing energy efficiency for the building. |
